House Points

At The Harlow Academy we operate a house point system. Using the house point system has a positive impact on motivation and behaviour, as well as encouraging a sense of identity and belonging among pupils.

The system includes all pupils, not just the 'highest achievers', and help develops a variety of skills other than academic, such as a sense of camaraderie, teamwork and healthy competition, which is nurtured contributing to a thriving school culture.

The house point system aims to help pupils become more engaged in their own education, while raising standards.

Each child is a member of a house team.
  • Bronte = Yellow
  • Newton = Red
  • Turner = Blue
Pupils are awarded merits for good work, these are added to their house team.
During the year house teams take part in house competitions and events to earn points for their house and at the end of the year the house with the most merits wins the house cup.
